Registration is open for the 2012 Mississippi State University Diversity Conference. Hosted by the MSU President’s Commission on the Status of Minorities, the conference will be held in the Colvard Student Union beginning Thursday, March 1, continuing through Friday, March 2. Attendance is open to all. “Enhancing Diversity in Higher Education: Undergraduate Retention, and Recruitment of Graduate Students, Faculty and Staff” is this year’s theme. The Conference will assemble several nationally and regionally recognized speakers. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Freeman Hrabowski, III, President of the University of Maryland-Baltimore County (UMBC). Under his leadership, UMBC has become one of the most innovative institutions for producing minority science and engineering graduates. One of the Conference’s primary goals will be to discuss diversity in higher education and identify opportunities to infuse diversity into its human capital. The expectation is that the infusion of diverse human capital in higher education will positively affect our communities, businesses, and educational systems. Education is a fundamental tool for success. Please visit http://www.ce.msstate.edu/DiversityConference/ to learn more, including how to register. |
