STONEKING NAMED DIRECTOR, PRIVATE SECTOR DIVISION, FEMA EXTERNAL AFFAIRS
 

Mike StonekingMike Stoneking has been named the new Director of the Private Sector Division, FEMA Office of External Affairs, effective Jan. 18, 2010.

Stoneking comes to the Private Sector Division following a career in both the corporate and government arenas focused on public affairs, culminating most recently as the Deputy and Acting Director of Public Affairs at FEMA. 

Previously an associate at Booz Allen Hamilton specializing in strategic communications in support of Homeland Security and Defense markets, Stoneking has also worked for Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide as a Vice President in the Social Marketing practice group, responsible for risk and crisis communication leadership in support of FEMA’s National Flood Insurance Program and CDC’s Personal Preparedness for Pandemic Influenza outreach program.

He also served for more than 25 years in the Army and the National Guard, where, as the Deputy Director for Public Affairs at the National Guard Bureau, he led the first military public affairs deployment into New Orleans in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. 

As Director, Private Sector, Dan will lead the team as it expands efforts to improve information sharing and coordination between FEMA and the private sector and foster collaboration and communication among FEMA programs that have an interest in private sector engagement.
