Large Crowd toasts rebirth of Jackson Landmark

With a toast "Long Live the King" Jackson Developer David Watkins realized a dream, as the renovated King Edward Hotel opened for business Thursday, Dec. 17. The hotel, which will be operated as a Hilton Garden Inn, also includes one- and two-bedroom apartments on the top floors

Watkins, a long with a host of officials, including Lt. Gov. Phil Bryant and Jackson Mayor Harvey Johnson, discussed the importance of the hotel's renovation to the revitalization of downtown Jackson

A cake designed to look like the King Edward Hotel was
served at the opening of the renovated building in Jackson.


A large crowd was on hand for the ribbon cutting
of the King Edward, which will be a Hilton Garden Inn


The lobby of the Hotel has been restored
 to reflect the Hotel's original design.
