Lt. Gov. Reeves and Speaker Gunn Announce Effort to Move Toward Comprehensive Budget and Tax Reform

gunn reeves bryantSpeaker of the House Philip Gunn, Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves and Gov. Phil Bryant recently outlined their shared goal of taking a critical examination of state tax policy and agency expenditures.

Speaker Gunn and Lt. Gov. Reeves will serve as co-chairmen of a legislative panel to review tax policy and provide recommendations to the Legislature. The first meeting of the legislative tax review panel will be Aug. 1, with recommendations anticipated to be considered in the 2017 session.

Adjutant General Collins of Mississippi Announces Retirement; Brigadier General Boyles Named as Replacement

CollinsMaj. Gen. Augustus L. (Leon) Collins, the adjutant general of Mississippi, has announced his retirement from the Mississippi National Guard, effective August 31, 2016. Brig. Gen. Janson D. (Durr) Boyles will take over the position of adjutant general on September 1, 2016.

Collins was appointed as the adjutant general on Jan. 11, 2012, by Gov. Phil Bryant. He currently oversees the Mississippi Military Department and serves as commander of the Mississippi Army and Air National Guard. The Booneville native ends his time in uniform with 35 years of service to Mississippi and the nation.
