MEC Annual Meeting Draws More than 2,100 Leaders and Students

Over 2,100 statewide elected officials, business & community leaders and students gathered on Thursday, April 28 for MEC PowerPlay - The 67th Annual Meeting at the Jackson Convention Complex.

The Annual Meeting luncheon featured "Adventrepreneur" Jamie Clarke, a Mt. Everest-conquering CEO; Special Entertainment from Mississippi's-own Dorothy Moore; Special announcements from Gov. Phil Bryant and Entergy Mississippi President/CEO Haley Fisackerly and special recognition of STAR Students from around Mississippi, as well as recognition of the great devotion shown by MEC leaders.

2015-2016 MEC Chair David Gates of Atmos Energy passed leadership to 2016-2017 MEC Chair Robin Robinson of Sanderson Farms, Inc. during the luncheon.

MEC Elects Robin Robinson 2016-2017 Chair

Robin Robinson, Director of Organization Development and Corporate Communication at Sanderson Farms, Inc., has been elected as the 2016-2017 Mississippi Economic Council Chair.

William Yates III, President and CEO of W.G. Yates & Sons Construction Company, was elected as 2017-2018 Chair.

Robinson began her career at Sanderson Farms in 1978 at Laurel Processing as cost accountant after graduating from the University of Southern Mississippi with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration with an emphasis in accounting. In 1981, she was promoted to chief accountant at Laurel processing. In 1986, she was promoted to chief internal auditor with responsibilities for auditing all aspects of the organization. Robinson served as manager of organization development from 1995-1997, manager of human resources, 1998–1999. In 2000 she was named to her current position of director of organization development and corporate communication. As director, her responsibilities include training, trainee and internship programs and corporate recruitment.
